Irish premiere of A Kiss on the Bottom in Skibbereen

In advance of Skibbereen Theatre Society returning to the drama festival circuit after an absence of three years, they will present the Irish premiere of A Kiss on the Bottom – a black comedy by Welsh playwright Frank Vickery – at Skibbereen Town Hall on Sunday, February 27th.

The opening night is a benefit performance for the new West Cork Arts Centre building fund. They will give three further performances of A Kiss on the Bottom at Skibbereen Town Hall on Monday 28th and also on Wednesday and Thursday, March 2nd and 3rd, before they embark on the drama festival circuit for the rest of the month.

Between 2000 and 2007 the West Cork-based group contested five All-Ireland finals, coming second twice – with Stolen Childat Warrenpoint, Co Down, in 2004 and The Cavalcaders at Tralee, Co Kerry, in 2005.

A Kiss on the Bottom is a heartfelt and bittersweet comedy, about a group of women in hospital for cancer treatments who must cope with the uncertainties of their health and the inevitable secrets and half-truths from relatives and nursing staff.

Tickets for all Skibbereen shows are available through Thornhill Electrical (tel 028-22557) and, for the opening night only, through the West Cork Arts Centre, Skibbereen (tel 028-22090).
